Yup, if you write the image to an SD card (

zstdcat turingpi2-alpine.sqfs.img.zst | dd of=/dev/mmcblk0 status=progress

or similar) then the TPi2 will auto-boot from it once physically inserted. For me (I somehow seem to have weird/corrupted settings in NVRAM, and the stock v2.1 firmware simply won't work - see earlier in this channel) this Alpine-based firmware is just what I needed – primarily, the ability to easily install the tools necessary to use the BMC to actually manage and use the installed nodes.
