I have to validate on my tpi 2.4 board but can recall that early 2.4 models had bugus hw version written in the eeprom. Like on your baord. Was able to rewrite it and make it more like a proper 2.5 unit using a one time boot with a custom image based on the factory branch. The factory branch targets by default 2.5 but can be adjusted to 2.4. Have to check if I created notes of this process.
