RK1 Armbian or Debian Image available?

Dear all, is an RK1 Armbian or Debian 12 image available? I saw that there quite a lot of commits in the Armbian directory hinting at the Turing RK1, but did not find any option to build for this target or any image available for download. In regards to Debian 12 I think I saw a prebuilt image for download, but the link seems to have gone dark. Thanks for your help and have a nice day 🙂

Thanks a lot @dojo-major and @soxrok2212 - I got the image. Seems like the website was just shortly down, awesome :)! Short question: What happens if I were to dist-upgrade the kernel at some point? Would that break the RK1 boot process (I guess?). Also, anyone knows anything about Armbian progress or if there is an Armbian config file available so that one can build Armbian for RK1? Thanks a lot! 🙂
s
It should not receive kernel updates
Please keep in mind that this is a beta image

I've been meaning to add Armbian support for a while. I can work on it sometime this week.

Understood, but thanks for giving me something to toy with 🙂
That would be really cool, I am currently starting to finally dust of my TPi2 and RK1s and want to replace my tired old NAS (just RAID-0) as a first effort - so currently putting stuff together. While I like Ubuntu, I am more of Debian person as Ubuntu seems to get more and more sluggish... So an Armbian or Debian sounds nice 🙂

i personally run proxmox on top of debian
s
A pull request for the RK1 has been sent to Armbian. https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/7228
n
Oh wow thats cool! I think I will give it a try. Thanks a lot for your work! 🙂
Thats also a good idea, might really think if I have a usecase to run more VMs... and Proxmox is getting so darn awesome since the whole ESXi debacle...
s
ill say it runs almost excellent
my only real nit is the rk1 apparently doesnt support more than 4 vlans ATM
n
Nice... Is that 4 VLAN issue something which can be "patched out" at some point? Thinking about some bigger firewall or similar use cases someone might be reaching that limit quite fast I guess :/?
s
Not sure yet
I doubt it’s a hardware thing

Just my two cents here, I made my own image some time ago https://github.com/sabban/debian-rk1

How did you accomplish this? Does Proxmox offer repositories for ARM64 architecture?
n
The Armbian version is working very well, the "vendor" release with Kernel 6.1.75 from Joshua Riek is awesome, sadly it is still missing the support fot the ASMedia 1061 controller in Node 3 on the TPi 2, which is not recognized.

Hi, question in the round, I installed armbian debian on my RK1 without any problems, and then on top of it Proxmox, like the youtube Vid from Digis Den, no problems here.
but when I create my first VM, (ubuntu 24.04 Desktop) and start it, I only get "Display output is not active." No mather which of the Display Settings I choose ( Default, VGA, Virtio-GPU) has anyone suggestions for me?
s
You need to enable the secure boot option and click enroll keys when you create it
f
awesome, thanks 🙂 workes

has anyone got some detailed steps on compiling armbian debian for rk1 for a noob.... keen to get proxmox going on TP

I use the Debian image that @soxrok2212 put together to run Proxmox on my RK1s. Works like a charm. https://discord.com/channels/754950670175436841/754950670175436848/1282184599606132757
