It's not in any binary release yet (as far as I know) so, yes, building it yourself is the way to get a firmware with it. Make sure

/mnt/overlay/upper/etc/network/interfaces

doesn't exist first, or at least that you can get in via UART to fix your

/etc/network/interfaces

to handle the breaking changes.
