Yeah -- the microSD card does fully erase the flash. (Though it was my understanding that 1.0 OTA updates also did the same?) If nothing else the MAC address is now unique+stable, since it's randomized seeded from the CPU serial number. You can still set your old MAC address if you want, but you don't strictly need to anymore.
